Amphibians announcement.... find attached
here our race
flyer, we put on The City of bath Triathlon, the only race in a 50m
swimming pool. And the Midweek Manic Duathlon Series at Castle
Combe, a closed circuit traffic free race!
.
Almondsbury 10k
On what would appear to be a clear Sunday in the Avon Race
Calendar there is a new local event being organised in Almondsbury
by the local School Parents Association (off the A38
close to Junction 16 M5)
A 10km & 5km -
primarily off road, the 10km is two 5km laps.
A 1km dash aimed at
kids.
|
 | The Cardiff Triple
is a team event (teams of four) held in an enclosed stadium, which
means it is an excellent spectator event, really good fun, and ideal
for an inter-club race day. |
It is three very short
triathlons in one, the first leg is as follows:
 | 200m swim (in a lovely
on-site pool)
 | 5,000m bike (on an
outdoor velodrome)
 | 1,000m run (inside the
bike track) |
| |
There is a 5-minute break
after the last competitor finishes and then the second leg starts:
Again there is a 5-minute
break before the final leg:
 | Rolling bike start
(which is great fun)
 | Swim
 | Run |
| |
Times are aggregated and
the fastest team wins! There are several "waves" during
the day, organised by ability so that each wave is competitive and there
is also a junior wave Click
here for more information.

We
are delighted to announce that the MOTI 2XU 2008 South West
Series is now open to entries.
The
series has gone from strength to strength in the past few
seasons and we also have new sponsors in the shape of
MOTI,
Bristol
's Run Specialist(www.mymoti.com)
and 2XU, Triathlon Apparel(www.2xu.com).
The
series was created to enable age group athletes in the South
West to compete across a range of races. There are twelve
races in the series and competitors must compete in four
of the events (including one open water). If a competitor
completes more than four races, the best four scores will
count towards their overall points total.
To
qualify for the series, competitors must be members of
Triathlon
England
and live in the South West or be a member of a Triathlon
England affiliated South West based club.
All
category winners will receive trophies and branded clothing
supplied by 2XU at the end of the season.
We
hope you will join us in making the 2008 Moti 2XU South West
Series a real success.
Any
queries regarding the series should be sent to Dave Pressley,
Race Series Co-ordinator (d.pressley@btopenworld.com)

 | Nigel
Cox accompanied by Nick Kane a Bristol Doctor are about to
venture into the 'extremes' of the Ironman Triathlon World, on
Sunday 1st July 2007 in Frankfurt Germany. The event is a
continuous race of a 2.4 mile swim,112 mile bike ride and a marathon
26.2 mile run. Both Nigel and Nick come from similar sporting
backgrounds having been rugby players, marathon runners and now
triathletes.
Nigels
father passed away as a result of prostate cancer and Nigel himself
was diagnosed and treated for the same complaint in 2004 at the age
of 46. Nigel says that the treatment he received at Southmead
Hospital was second to none and in recognition of this he would like
to raise money for Bristol Prostate Cancer Care.
Please
donate on line to my chosen charity. "On
race day Nick and I will then be competing in the knowledge that we
are raising money for a very worthy cause and this will spur us on
to the finish line".
